Nocturnal Oximetry Test Sleep Tests

The Nox BodySleep analysis uses robust physiological parameters, which are unlikely to fail during a sleep study . The primary input to the analysis is respiratory data processed through advanced algorithms utilizing Nox calibrated RIP technology. The Nox BodySleep uses the abdominal and thoracic RIP signals, respiratory rate, which is derived from the RIP signals, and actigraphy as input signals. Those physiological parameters are easily obtained in a home sleep study with high patient comfort while showing good clinical accuracy in determining the AHI and SDB disease severity. Furthermore, the Nox BodySleep uses these signals to assess sleep time. The method is intended to classify 30-second epochs into the states of REM sleep, NREM sleep and Wake.

The Nox A1 and its accompanying Noxturnal software incorporate technology that provides automatic analysis of sleep study data. In published papers, the Nox A1 System has demonstrated a strong correlation between its built-in algorithm for respiratory scoring and manually scored apnea-hypopnea indexes . The Noxturnal software also includes an automatic sleep staging algorithm intended to estimate total sleep time. The device itself is outfitted with two RIP belts, which provide an alternative for scoring apneas and hypopneas, as well as a backup signal if the primary nasal cannula signal fails or is unreliable.

In a proof-of-principle study recently published, the novel Nox BodySleep algorithm was tested for sensitivity and specificity along with its performance on distinguishing between REM, NREM and wakefulness. The article concludes that the Nox BodySleep algorithm could be an appropriate tool to increase the diagnostic accuracy of portable monitoring. Validation of the Nox BodySleep is compared to manually scored PSG.

The Nox Cannula and Nox RIP belts are single patient use only, reducing the risk of cross-infection and possible cross contamination if handled properly. The Nox Cannula has a built-in hydrophobic filter (0.45 μm filtering capability) to protect the Nox T3s recorder from moisture. The Nox T3s is a customizable home sleep test system that is both easy to use, cost-effective and provides accurate results meeting Type III criteria for sleep diagnostic devices. The Nox T3s is based on the popular Nox T3, which has for many become the standard for home sleep testing since its initial release in 2008.

Sleep device company Nox Medical, the testing and diagnostics branch of Nox Health, has launched its polysomnographic system, the Nox A1, in the United States and Canada. The Nox A1 is an ambulatory PSG device that combines that is capable of multiple functions in a single device. Learn how Naresh M. Punjabi, MD, PhD and his team used the Nox Self-Applied Somnography™ to conduct home-based sleep studies with EEG on a large population. The nocturnal oximetry test is often referred to as overnight oxygen test or “noc ox”. This test will help you doctor determine the best treatment for you.

It uses respiratory inductance plethysmography signals derived from the Nox RIP belts and actigraphy to measure the impact of brain state change on the body and estimates sleep states from those signals. The clinical purpose of Nox BodySleep is to get a more accurate estimate of sleep time during a home sleep study by correctly classifying wake in a home sleep test. The Nox BodySleep algorithm was tested for BMI, sex and AHI ranges (0-5 – 5-15 – over 15).

The need to shift from traditional in-lab testing towards home sleep testing was not new, but now the transition was total. Additionally, the only option to provide clinic appointments became via telehealth. Once received, if you lose or don’t return back the home sleep testing equipment within 17 days, you will be responsible for the replacement cost of the device at $4,995. After 17 days, Ez Sleep must order replacement units at a fee of $4,995. Yes, your child should undergo a second night sleep study to avoid having to retest due to inconclusive study results. Lower power consumption provides longer recording times with the new Nox T3s.

Furthermore, the use of Nox RIP flow offers an alternative or backup for the cannula flow and minimizes the risk of losing a study if the cannula drops out. With the two integrated high-resolution ExG channels on the Nox T3s, sleep specialists can customize their T3s device to adapt to their patients’ needs. The Nox T3s is very versatile, whether you need a traditional type III study for apnea detection or a more advanced study with additional channels. It is possible to measure the patient’s cardiac signal with the EKG.

Virtual Care

During the coronavirus pandemic, the need for telehealth and telemedicine has become clear. Atlanta based, FusionSleep is one of many sleep centers that have turned to home sleep testing and telehealth to keep their doors open to patients during the times of COVID-19. Shawn Roberts, VP of Operations at FusionSleep explains the transformation process and the results of using Nox T3 in telehealth.

“We take great pride in not only the comfort, but the efficiency of our devices,” says Pétur Már Halldórsson, CEO of Nox Medical, in a release. “Unlike traditional PSG systems, the Nox A1’s wireless hookup design eliminates the discomfort and inconvenience of being tethered to the bed. Plus, with minimal cables and straps, it is suitable for diverse patient population. Dr. Punjabi used the Nox A1s PSG system configured with the Nox SAS in a multicenter AIDS cohort study of the natural and treated history of HIV infection in men, which started in the mid-1980s. If oxygen is recommended while you sleep an order for the oxygen will be written.
